MTC’s Chief Human Capital and Corporate Affairs Officer, Tim Ekandjo surprised former and current players and management of his hometown team Atlanta Bucks Football Club when he donated brand new Kappa jerseys, a set of training gear, 20 balls, 20 bibs and 40 cones to the club.

Beside the donated items, Ekandjo who is Lüderitz born and bred – also boosted the club’s coffers with a N$20 000 sponsorship during a well-attended gala dinner at Ritzi’s Restaurant in Lüderitz on Saturday. Atlanta Bucks FC was established in 1972.
On the sponsored jerseys are written the names of Simon ‘Kaptein’ Haindongo and the late Shaanika Andreas, honouring the club’s legends.

More than 120 Atlanta Bucks current and former football and netball players, all donning the club’s black and red colours, enjoyed the evening with former players narrating stories of how the team started and how they went on to win many competitions in the 80’s and early 90’s.

During the dinner Ekandjo, who used the platform as a way of ploughing back into his community, said it is very important to honour those who passed on while also recognising those still alive.

Simon ‘Kaptein’ Haindongo warmly applauded Ekandjo for honouring him and went on to encourage the current crop of players to work hard and take the club to greater heights, just as his peers did in their heyday.
