The Namibian National Beach Volleyball tour will bring world-class action to the DTS Beach Courts in Windhoek on Saturday.
The tournament will feature teams from five countries: Namibia, Angola, Germany, Botswana and South Africa.
The competition will showcase various categories, including men’s and women’s two-person teams, U/19 boys’ and girls’ teams, and social four-a-side teams.
A total prize pool of N$15 000 will be up for grabs.
Tournament director Heiko Kesselmann announced that 16 teams are set to compete in the U/19 men’s category, while eight teams will compete in the women’s category.
“There won’t be many women’s teams, and no international women’s teams will be participating,” Kesselmann noted.
“Among the star players, South Africa’s top-ranked Danilo von Ludwiger will join forces with Namibia’s Luca Kesselmann to form a formidable duo. Local teams like Simeon Ndaxula and Theodor Thomas, Jan Erik Sack and Jura Krafft, Fabian Pfeiffer and Conrad Johannes will also be strong contenders.
“The U/19 boys’ and girls’ divisions will be filled with Namibia’s emerging stars, with the Lück sisters, Romy and Piroschka, as the favourites to claim the women’s title. These divisions are expected to be highly competitive as Namibia prepares to send teams to the Youth Olympics,” he added.
Entry fees for the two-person teams are N$200, while the four-a-side teams will pay N$400 to compete.
