Tourism remains a major money-spinner with its contribution to Namibia’s gross domestic product (GDP) having increased to N$6.6 billion in 2006, said Digu //Naobeb, the Chief Executive Officer of the Namibia Tourism Board (NTB).
GDP is the total value of goods produced and services offered in a country in a year.
//Naobeb disclosed this figure recently at a gala dinner at Gocheganas Game Reserve, a hill-top lodge nestled on spectacular landscape that abounds with bat-eared foxes and rhino. One hundred and forty travel agents and tour operators mostly from Swiss travel agency, Knecht Reisen, and a group of local journalists, who were guests at the gala, had a full house of entertainment.
In his brief, the NTB chief indicated that tourism showed a healthy increase of 14.8 percent in 2006 and supported well over 74??????’??
