This year the Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) will focus on tracing its unenrolled annuitants at the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair for these members to receive their benefits.
The term annuitants refers to the GIPF’s non-active members who receive monthly income from the fund. These include children, retired members, the disabled and spouses of deceased members.
To verify their status, annuitants are encouraged to bring along their GIPF cards but can produce them at any GIPF office or Nampost office or agency. “Annuitants younger than 12 years however need to be verified at GIPF offices only.”
“It is important to get enrolled or get verified within the allocated time frame to guarantee your income – if you do not verify yourself, your income will be suspended. The verification of all annuitants can be done three times a year, from November to February, March to June, and July to October,” GIPF says.
GIPF has printed an insert that will be distributed countrywide with the names of all unenrolled annuitants. The public are urged to grab a copy of this insert to look for their names or that of their loved ones.
“We are also calling upon all the guardians to bring their children during the school holidays for enrolment at any of our offices,” said Amos Kambonde, GIPF’s Manager for Marketing Services.
Apart from the enrolment of annuitants, GIPF will be offering its standard services such as pension benefits, printing of benefit statements, claiming process, updating of members’ information and submitting of outstanding documents. Most importantly members are encouraged to bring their identification documents as well as their latest payslips.
“We are encouraging our members and beneficiaries to understand the rules of the fund and how they are applied and what their obligations are in totality. We are therefore inviting all our members to join us in Ongwediva between August 26 and September 3, 2016. Also, members are encouraged to visit our regional offices in Oshakati, Ondangwa, Rundu, Katima, Gobabis, Keetmanshoop, Swakopmund, Otjiwarongo and Windhoek,” Kambonde added.
