Training squad identified for Jarvis Competition

The Namibian Squad Association has announced a provisional training squad to begin preparations for the 2026 Jarvis Competition, set to take place in Mossel Bay, South Africa, this July.

Led by national captain Le-Hugo van Rooyen, the selected players will enter a comprehensive training programme starting next week, as Namibia intensifies its build-up for the prestigious international tournament.

The training squad comprises Arno Diekman, Le-Hugo van Rooyen, Brandon Grane, Kyle Kriel, Danie Greef, Christof Knoetze, Francois Hanekom (Junior), Emil Dorgeloh, Michael van Lingen, Timo Huster, Clinton Mcelhone, Steven Berry, Charldon Fourie, and Trevor Grane.

In a statement, the Namibian Squad Association expressed gratitude to Tulipamwe Consulting Engineers for their sponsorship, which has made the programme possible.

“Our squad will participate in a comprehensive training programme designed to prepare them for the intensity of international competition,” the association said.

The association also confirmed that only six players will ultimately be selected from the training group to represent Namibia at the Jarvis Competition.

The final team will be determined by a selection committee, with decisions based on several criteria, including commitment and participation in the programme, physical fitness, tournament performances, squash level rankings, injury status, and overall match results.

The Jarvis Competition is regarded as a key platform for Namibia’s elite players to test themselves against strong international opposition, and the upcoming campaign is expected to be highly competitive and closely contested.
