Trio ink deals with Simba Bhora

Zimbabwean Premier League side Simba Bhora FC has strengthened its squad ahead of the new season by signing three Namibian players: Leevi Alfeus, McCarthy Naweseb, and Kennedy Eib, on two-year contracts.

The trio join the ambitious Zimbabwean outfit following impressive spells with their respective clubs in Namibia and abroad. Simba Bhora, who finished third in the Zimbabwean Premier League last season after lifting the title in 2024, continues to bolster its squad as it aims to reclaim domestic glory and compete strongly on the continental stage.

Blue Waters FC attacking midfielder Leevi Alfeus (24) makes the move to Zimbabwe after establishing himself as a key figure in the Walvis Bay-based side’s midfield. Blue Waters chairperson Mathias Haufiku described Alfeus as a committed and influential player whose presence will be missed.

“Alfeus is an asset to the club. He always leaves everything on the field and was passionate about winning. He motivated his teammates even when things were not going well on the pitch. While his departure is a loss, we have always supported our players when opportunities from abroad arise. Blue Waters remains a club of choice, so finding a replacement should not be too difficult,” said Haufiku.

Haufiku added that the technical team, with backing from the executive committee, is already working to reinforce the squad ahead of what is expected to be a highly competitive second round.

“We expect a tough second round as teams have found their rhythm and strengthened. Our goal remains to move up the log table and challenge for the title,” he said.

Also joining Simba Bhora is Rundu Chiefs FC forward McCarthy ‘Maq’ Naweseb (28), who only joined the Kavango-based side in August 2025 on a two-year deal. Naweseb brings extensive international experience, having previously played for Matebele FC in Botswana, Qizilqum FC in Uzbekistan, and Sevan FC in Armenia. He also won the 2018/19 Namibian league title with Black Africa. “We arrived on Monday to meet up with the team. This season I want to do well and help the club finish as high as possible,” Naweseb said.

Completing the Namibian trio is 28-year-old centre-back Kennedy Eib, a calm and disciplined defender. Eib’s career has seen him feature for Chula Chula FC, South African National First Division side Highbury FC, and Bucks Buccaneers FC, before sealing his latest move to Simba Bhora. -lmupetami@nepc.com.na
