Tsumeb
The youth of Oshikoto Region and the nation at large are urged to be wary of the future by avoiding activities that will destabilise the country’s peace and stability – instead, they should focus more on matters that develop the country.
The message comes a few days before community members in the Tsumeb Constituency will gather to celebrate the country’s 26th independence anniversary, more than a week after the national celebration took place in the capital.
“We should really embrace the independence we have because it never came on a silver platter. This can be embraced by working hard. Especially young people should follow the good examples and join the legacy left behind by our brothers and sisters who fought to liberate the country,” stressed Tsumeb Councillor Lebbius Tobias, who strongly emphasised the need for the youth to be vigilant as they are the future generation, whose responsibility is to continue maintaining and developing the country, at the same time embracing peace and stability.
Tobias added that working hard should be young people’s motto for the benefit of all.
Meanwhile, Oshikoto Regional Governor Hennock Kankoshi encouraged community members to attend en-masse the late independence anniversary celebration as the gathering is an important event.
“This serves as a chance for the community members to be updated on developments taking place in their respective areas and also be informed on what they can expect. That’s why it is important not to miss it,” stressed Kankoshi.
Omuthiya Constituency will also be celebrating its 26th jubilee anniversary this weekend.
