Tsumeb warns against illegal outdoor advertising … issues Valentine’s Day deadline

OMUTHIYA – The Tsumeb Municipality has urged all businesses, institutions, organisations and individuals to remove any illegally displayed advertisements on council land or in public spaces by 14 February 2026.
In a media statement issued on Tuesday, acting CEO Frans Enkali emphasised that all outdoor advertisements within the council’s jurisdiction must be regulated in accordance with the council’s advertising policy.
“Any illegal outdoor advertisement or signage found after the above-mentioned date will be removed by the council, and the council will not be held liable for any damage or loss resulting from such removal,” Enkali said.
He clarified that prohibited advertising includes, but is not limited to, placements on street poles and traffic signs, trees and fences, road reserves and pavements, as well as public buildings and council property.
Enkali further stressed that prior approval from the municipality is required for any member of the public or business wishing to display advertisements.
