Ten months ago, Terence Raxa Pieters of the duo Tswazis released his solo debut single and video, titled ‘Oa /khi’.
Recently, Eldazz Eldicko Geiseb, the other member, also released his new single, ‘Baby Come Back’, marking a new direction for each artist as they pursue individual paths. This progression showcases both members branching out while reflecting their shared beginnings.
In 2015, Kaptein Tswazi, a former member of the trio, split from the group, carving out his own path of chart-topping hits. Meanwhile, Raxa told VIBEZ! he has always been creating and perfecting his craft, even while being part of the band.
“Songwriting has always been second nature to me. In 2023, I decided to take the solo path more seriously, and since then, I haven’t looked back. It’s been one of the best decisions for my growth as an artist,” he said.
“I felt it was time to grow and evolve as an artist. I wanted to challenge myself creatively and explore new sounds and ideas. I believe I still have untapped potential, and this solo journey allows me the freedom to reach for it.”
On his part, Eldazz said the solo project was the result of a mutual agreement and understanding that they would be venturing down this path. “We agreed we will be jumping on solo projects as we are exploring new ways individually. We are still Tswazis, and we’re still duo, but we just wanted to try something new, and it’s also part of growth,” he pointed out.
The new journey for Eldazz has been an eye-opener for him, as it is mixed with excitement, and he loves the new space. As both artists adjust to solo pursuits, they reflect on the fresh experiences this path brings.
“I am loving it, there is a lot of hidden talent that I haven’t explored so much, so I am loving it here. It’s been amazing, and I only released one single, and I’m already getting bookings as a solo artist, so I believe the fans are loving it.”
Raxa feels that, with four singles currently released, it is time to grow and evolve as an artist.
“It’s been an exciting and refreshing journey. The freedom to fully express myself has been empowering. I feel like I am in my true element now, bringing years of experience into a fresh new chapter. It is only the beginning, but I am enjoying every moment of it.”
Raxa informed this publication that the love and support have been overwhelming.
“Many fans have told me they wish I had gone solo sooner because they are enjoying this version of me just as much as I am. The feedback, energy, and excitement from my supporters keep pushing me forward,” said the artist.
Both artists have been hard at work in the studio, with Raxa’s album complete and a not-too-distant launch coming.
“I’m just finalising the rollout and marketing strategy because I want to deliver it in the best way possible. I have been working closely with DJ Edvicted, who is also the executive producer of the album, and Kallo On The Beat. One person I deeply wish I could have collaborated with on this project is the late Araffath. His influence and lessons live on in my music, and I carry that forward with pride.”
He went on to say, “Right now, the focus is on building Raxa as a brand and as an artist. I have a lot on my plate, including being back in school studying Digital Marketing at NIT and Media & Communications at Unam, while also growing my solo career. But Tswazis will always be part of my story, and who knows what the future holds?”
Eldazz revealed that he has already recorded many songs with a few local artists.
“For my new journey, I will obviously just do what I have been doing already, but this time I need to push harder because it is a new journey and I need to familiarise it, especially when it comes to performances and entertaining my fans,” he said.
