Two suspects are expected to appear in court today for defeating and obstructing the course of justice after they assisted a suspect to flee from an accident scene, where a couple died when a vehicle plunged into their shack while they were fast asleep.
Khomas police spokesperson Silas Shipandeni said the police have arrested the driver and a co-driver of a white bakkie that fled with the suspect who drove into the shack.
He said after the occurrence of the incident on Saturday, at around 03h38 at erf 7098 Bishop AC Kamburona street, the driver, who is now a wanted suspect, fled from the scene in a white bakkie. “The driver of a getaway vehicle and his co-driver got arrested on Sunday late afternoon and are currently detained. They are expected to appear in court tomorrow (today) on charges of defeating and obstructing the course of justice,” he explained.
He indicated that although the driver is still at large, he will be arrested soon, as information is reaching the investigation officer.
The wanted driver, who is believed to be around Windhoek, was driving a grey Toyota double cab bakkie with registration N186-198W. The deceased couple has been identified as Jimmy Hamaseb (49) and Wilfred Guriras (40). Shipandeni said the next of kin of both victims were informed.
He urged the vehicle owner, who is now regarded as a primary suspect, to report himself to the nearest police station.
