WINDHOEK – Namibia’s Under-20 boys team that travelled to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe for the African Union Sports Commission (AUSC) Region 5 Youth Games, will tomorrow confront Zambia in an opening match at the Luveve Stadium in Bulawayo.

The team coached by Turipamue Upi, is in Group-B with reigning champions South Africa, Zambia, and Lesotho. Group-A features hosts Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Swaziland, Angola and Malawi. The top two teams in each pool advance to the semifinal.

After tomorrow’s match against Zambia, Namibia will then take on South African for their second game on Monday. Their final group game will be played next Wednesday against Lesotho at the Barbourfields Stadium again in Bulawayo.

The semifinals are scheduled to take place on Friday, 12 December from 15h00 with the third-place playoff match scheduled for Saturday, 13 December at Barbourfields Stadium, which will also host the final on Sunday, 14 December at 15h00.

The country’s Under-20 team coached by Bertus Bock will also open their campaign tomorrow when they face Botswana at the Luveve Stadium. The team which includes players such as Annouscka Kordom, Memory Ngonda and Lovisa Mulunga, who represented Namibia at the CAF Women’s Championship hosted in Namibia in October this year, will play its second game on Sunday at the same venue against host Zimbabwe while their final match will be against South Africa next Tuesday at the Barbourfields Stadium.

The women’s category will feature four countries and be played in a round-robin format with three points awarded for a win and one for a draw and the team with most points will take gold.
