UDF reviews election manifesto

Home National UDF reviews election manifesto

SWAKOPMUND – The secretary general of the United Democratic Front (UDF), Hage Gaweseb, revealed that party members who convened over the weekend at Swakopmund successfully discussed the party’s election manifesto and referred it to the executive committee (Exco) meeting for final review.

He said the central committee meeting went well as the party discussed all crucial points on their agenda.

“Our manifesto will be launched before the end of September. The Exco will meet next week to do the final review as well as to determine the exact date and venue for the launch of our manifesto,” he told New Era yesterday.

He further stated that the UDF will hold its electoral college before the end of September where the party will compile the list of names for National Assembly seats.

“We also reviewed our constitution but it was referred back to the working committee before tabling it, however we only want to concentrate on the national elections this year,” stated Gaweseb.

Also speaking at the central committee meeting on Saturday at Swakopmund, UDF president Apius Auchab said he was confident that the party would get more seats in parliament in the November elections.

He urged all UDF members who want to be a candidate for the elections to be registered and be an active member who wants to serve the interests of the party.

“We want to increase our representation in parliament from the current two,  to at least 10 next year. This can only be achieved through a collective leadership which will transform UDF to become a political party which will secure massive support in all corners of Namibia, and effectively control the state through electoral politics in order to transform it for the benefit of all,” Auchab said.

Auchab then urged the central committee members to  strive for peace and promote unity in the party.

“The destiny of our country is in our hands. Let us convince Namibians to exercise their choices through the ballot box,” Auchab appealed to voters.
