UDF to launchmanifesto this weekend

UDF to launchmanifesto this weekend

A reinvigorated United Democratic Front is preparing to launch its manifesto this weekend in Otjiwarongo.

The main event is on Saturday.

Party leader Hendrik Gaobaeb is expected to address the crowd.

Party secretary for information Mabasen Narib said the manifesto will reflect UDF’s commitment to Namibian citizens’ social and economic development.

“The UDF party has been around in the political arena for the past 34 years. We have made meaningful contributions to the growth of Namibian citizens by advocating for their social economic development through motions tabled and contributions made through constituencies and local authorities, where UDF has representatives,” he said.

The manifesto’s key focus areas will include youth development and employment creation, communal farmers’ empowerment, agricultural reform and the implementation of a basic income grant.

“We aim to provide free education at all levels, address inequality, and improve living standards. The manifesto allows us to inform Namibian voters about our strategic plans for the next five years,” he stated.

So far, the party has engaged with communities through door-to-door campaigns, with a strong emphasis on creating a responsive and service-delivery-orientated government.

“There will be a noticeable difference, as the landscape has changed, and there are new challenges that need to be addressed, which were not part of the previous manifesto. With new leadership comes new vision as well,” he continued.

The event will feature speeches from the party’s leadership, and is open to the public.

He said the UDF is hopeful that voters will resonate with its message of social democracy.

“We are seeking to address inequalities through social welfare programmes and the provision of critical services by the state to all citizens. Wealth redistribution strategies are crucial, and we want the manifesto to speak to the expectations of the masses so they can give us their vote without hesitation,” he said.

Narib is also confident that their manifesto will serve as a guiding tool for its elected officials, addressing the challenges Namibia faces, and outlining clear solutions for the future.

“We pledge to give equal representation, and advocate for the economic advancement of all citizens,” he said.
