Unam hosts thrilling Khomas basketball

Windhoek basketball fans are in for a treat this weekend as the Khomas Basketball League returns with exciting games scheduled for tonight at the Unam Gym Hall.

Two matches are slated for today. The first starts at 18h15 between BAS Vikings and Unam Rebels. This will be followed by what’s expected to be a thrilling match between Afro-Star and Unam Wolves.

Unam Rebels head coach Bruno Quizola expressed satisfaction with his team’s preparations, stating that his players are more than ready for this weekend’s game.

“I think we have gained momentum and morale after our win last weekend. We had training sessions this week which went well. We are looking to build from last week’s performance,” Quizola said. “The boys are eager to be on the court; we have all our key players available for this encounter. We expect the boys to bring their best, although it won’t be an easy tie against an equally strong Vikings,” he said.

Titus Mwahafa, the president of basketball in Namibia, urged fans to turn out in large numbers to support local sport. “I want fans to come like they did during the AUSC Games.

I think if we could replicate and continue with that, we could help the sport grow in the country,” he said. -mkambukwe@nepc.com.na
