Hosts Ramblers enjoyed mixed fortunes during their annual Ramblers Youth Football Academy annual tournament at the Ramblers field in Windhoek last weekend.

The fired-up Tunschell Street Pikininis claimed a well-deserved gold medal in the Under-17 age group – edging ahead of eternal rivals Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) and the emerging Dolam-based (Katutura) Swallows Youth Academy.

Rammies finished top of the table after the round table matches that attracted dozens of young footballers from several youth football academies from the capital, as well as Otjiwarongo and Swakopmund.

Swallows ended in second spot tailed by Teenagers in third place upon completion of the two-day youth tourney.
However, the wide-awake Laaities from the Swallows Youth Academy got the better of the hosts in the under-15 section – clinching first spot at the expense of Imawida.

The latter had to pick up the pieces for second place with Rammies adrift in third place. The final standings read as follows:
Under 15

1. Swallows
2. SKW
3. Ramblers

Under 17

1. Ramblers
2. Swallows
3. Teenager FC

Overall, hosts Ramblers claimed three gold medals, one silver and two bronze medals in the two-day youth tourney to finish amongst the top teams in both age categories.
The Under-15 age group category attracted a significant number of twelve teams while the Under-17’s had a strong field of nine participants.
