The Uukwambi Traditional Authority condemns in the strongest terms allegations made by Junias Nampindi Ndakola that appeared in the New Era on Friday, June 1, 2007.

It is alleged that the chairperson of Uukwambi Traditional Authority, Chief Herman Iipumbu arbitrarily removed the headman, Martin Nambala Angombe, from his position of leading the village and replaced him with Mr Abraham Kamutsheetha Iipumbu.

Such allegations are unfounded, devoid of any truth, and nothing contained in them ever happened. This is therefore an insult of the highest order to the Uukwambi community and nothing but blatant lies. As members of the Uukwambi community, we are aware of the chief’s clear understanding and extensive knowledge in all aspects pertaining to traditional laws and customs.

That makes him one of the traditional leaders who are at the highest level of understanding and interpreting traditional laws and procedures especially in the northern part of this country.

It is against this background that the community of Uukwambi cannot agree with Ndakola’s allegations. The chief has been leading this community and served its members with diligence, dedication, peace and respect during the difficult times of the colonial era since the attainment of independence to date.

That is why the Uukwambi Traditional Authority is requesting Mr Nambala together with his spokesperson and their other two colleagues, Toivo and Simon, to clear the chief’s name in this regard. Chief Iipumbu has never ever removed Mr Nambala from his position, neither did he appoint Mr Abraham Kamutsheetha Iipumbu in a position of a village headman as this does not form part of his duties and responsibilities in the Uukwambi Traditional Authority. The appointment of village headmasters is done by Senior Traditional Councillors as it is prescribed in the Traditional Authority Act No.??????’??
