WINDHOEK – DTA leader, McHenry Venaani who was hospitalised for a week has been discharged from the Roman Catholic private hospital after suffering from a lung infection.

Venaani who is the new leader of the official opposition after the just ended elections on November 28, told New Era yesterday he was discharged over the weekend and is now home recovering.

“The specialists said it was a minor infection on my right lung. It has to do with the lot of distance, long travelling I undertook. I am home recuperating. The doctors detected the infection early and so they controlled it,” he said.

On a lighter note, he assured the nation he is fine and he urged all farmers to use the rainy season and start ploughing.

“Farmers must start ploughing including the President-elect Hage Geingob, he is also a farmer,” he said with laughter.

The DTA was confirmed the country’s new official opposition party at the November Presidential and National Assembly elections after receiving 42 933 votes and five seats, while the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) slumped to third place after receiving 31 372 votes, which translated into three seats.
