The Defeat Hate Experience is an exhibition based on the experience of what Vilho does in his everyday life. The 15 pieces exhibition focuses on portraits but also includes photographs from cultural events and people who
inspire him, and candid photographs of people taken while they are unaware. Each photo captures a range of emotions from fear and pride, to fierce determination. The photos also capture the brightness and hardiness of Namibia. Viewing the exhibition one can really see that the photographs are a contribution to the growth and
development of the country. Qualitative and creativity, one of the most inspiring photographs is one of Namibian artist, Elemotho with a Saxophone.
The photograph is based on a true story of Elemotho being a Namibian music hero, who has put Namibian music on the international map by winning different awards. Inspired by the roughness of life, Vilho is a passionate individual aiming to burn bridges and motivate unity, tolerance and discourage apathy
through his work as a photographer in a manner of activism. Onother photo shows a young girl despite being born on the margins of society and being an outsider, she is able to express herself and takes pride in her practice,
dedication and hard work. As a winner of the Merit Award in the photography category at the Bank
Windhoek Triennialle last year, Vilho wishes that people would acknowledge the power that lies within photography as an art form and use it as a weapon to express themselves.
