Volleyball league returns with exciting games

After a month-long break, the topflight MTC Volleyball League returns this weekend with several exciting matches lined up at Otjiwarongo’s C’est Bon Courts.

Action will kick off at 09h00, in the women’s division on Court A, with NamPol Volleyball Club taking on NamPol Otjozondjupa Volleyball Club, while in Court B, Revival Volleyball Club will square off against Unam Queens Volleyball Club.

At 11h00, Ball Busters Volleyball Club will face Kudus Sports Club on Court A, while, Namibian Defence Force Phoenix (NDF) will lock horns with Six Stars Volleyball Club (SSVC) in Court B.

Action will continue at 13h00 in Court A with Revival Volleyball Club (RVC) taking on a stubborn NamPol Volleyball Club (NPV), while in Court B, Unam Queens Volleyball Club will battle it out against NamPol Otjozondjupa Volleyball Club (NOVC).

At 15h00, SSVC will host BBVC in an exciting match-up, while on Court B, Kudus Sports Club will have a tough test at hand when they square off against Namibian Defence Force Phoenix.

In the men’s division, action will get underway at 09h00, at Court C, as NamPol Volleyball Club plays Namibia Correctional Service Volleyball Club (NCS VC), while on Court D, Unam Hard Hitters will square off against Calvary Eagles Sport Club (CESC).

At 11h00, on Court C, MGSC will take on ASC-C, while Namibian Defence Force Raptors (NDF-R) will lock horns with Keetmanshoop Correctional Facility Volleyball Club (KCFVC) at Court D.

At 13h00, Unam Hard Hitters will be back in action against NamPol Volleyball Club on Court C.

Then at 15h00, Namibian Defence Force Raptors will face Namibia Correctional Service Volleyball Club (NCS VC) on Court C, while at Court D, ASC will take on Calvary Eagles Sport Club (CESC).

Tobias Mwatelulo, president of the Namibia Volleyball Federation (NVF), expressed excitement about the resumption of the league programme after the hiatus. He urged residents to come and support the teams. 

“We are happy to return this weekend; fans have been yearning for these volleyball games. I encourage Otjiwarongo residents and those from surrounding areas to come in numbers and support the sport. It is one of the fastest-growing disciplines in the country,” he said.

He also noted that the weekend marks the official launch of the new season, with a congress planned to shape the future of volleyball.

“It’s a big weekend for players, coaches, fans, and management alike. All key stakeholders will be in town to discuss the future of volleyball. Alongside the games, we’ll have our season launch and will host a congress to put key items on the agenda,” Mwatelulo added.
