The Namibia Volleyball Federation has officially announced that the MTC Namibia Volleyball League will commence on 29 March.
Teams across the country will be gearing up for an action-packed season.
The league’s coordinator Albert Khevare shared the federation’s ambitious vision to elevate volleyball to the top spot in Namibian sport.
“Our focus is on making volleyball the number one sport in the country. We are committed to ensuring that the game is played and watched across all 14 regions.
“We have a fully-operational regional structure in place that is dedicated to making sure our brand is well-cared-for. This year, we have massive events lined up nationwide. We encourage fans from all regions to come join us for the action”.
The league will feature both men’s and women’s categories, with each division comprising eight competitive teams.
Kudakwashe Mutasa, the coach of the women’s defending champion Revivals Volleyball Club, expressed confidence in his team’s ability to defend their title.
He cited the commitment and hard work of the players.
“The girls have been working tirelessly in training. They are showing great dedication and determination. We have a solid core of experienced players. But we are always looking to strengthen the squad.
“Our strategy will focus on teamwork, discipline and maintaining a winning mentality. We know the competition will be tough. But we are ready for the challenge, and excited to hit the court,” Mutasa said.
The men’s division will feature teams such as Namibia Correctional Service, Unam Hard Hitters, NDF Raptors, Keetmanshoop Correctional Facility, Nampol, Calvary Eagles, Afrocat and Mighty Gunners.
In the women’s division, the teams include Kudos, Ball Busters, Nampol, Six Stars, Nampol Otjozondjupa, NDF Phoenix, UNAM Queens and Revivals.
