ONGWEDIVA – Ongwediva’s Medipark private hospital will host its second annual Breast and Cervical Cancer Awareness Campaign from 18 to 20 October.

The campaign, which will be preceded by a walk on the 18th, is to create awareness on breast and cervical cancer among the community and to empathize with cancer sufferers.

This year’s event which will be held under the theme “cancer is preventable” will be addressed by the First Lady of Namibia, Penehupifo Pohamba.

Ongwediva Medipark is requesting companies to put up stalls at designated areas at the hospital.

“Companies are requested to put up stalls on the grounds of Ongwediva Medipark and hand out water/refreshments, hair shaving or spraying stations,” reads a statement issued by the Managing Director of Ongwediva Medipark, Tshali Iithete.

Medipark is also urging people for sponsorships.

Pink T-shirts will be available for all participants to wear during the walk.

The funds raised will be donated to the Cancer Association of Namibia.

The walk will be led by Pohamba who is a significant sponsor of the gala dinner.

The intended route will be from Ongwediva Medipark-Auguste Taanyanda Street, through Mandume Ndemufayo Street, Kaulomo Kautondokwa Street and Dr Sam Nujoma Street connecting to the main road opposite old Yap gym turning left in the main road towards Shell Ongwediva, Mandume Ndemufayo Street, through Auguste Tanyaanda Street to the Ongwediva Medipark entrance.
