Wall of Fame to make first appearance

Wall of Fame to make first appearance

The Namibia Sports Commission (NSC) on Thursday announced that its Wall of Fame will be introduced at the 20th edition of the Namibia Annual Sport Awards (Nasa) on 22 November 2024.

The event will be held at the Windhoek Country Club Resort, and will celebrate exceptional contributors in the Namibian sport fraternity.

Speaking during an information-sharing session here, NSC chief administrator Freddy Simataa Mwiya said this year’s edition of the Wall of Fame will award three retired athletes.

“Those who have retired and even those who have passed on – we also need to recognise them,” he said, noting that awards are meant to recognise those who have achieved and contributed to sport in Namibia.

He stated that not everyone will be satisfied, as not everyone will get a chance to be inducted.

Also speaking at the information-sharing session, NSC development officer Erwin Handura highlighted that those inducted into the Wall of Fame will be honoured with access to all sport events.

“They will receive a ticket that will allow them to enter any sporting event,” he said.

He noted that no names have been selected yet.

Nominations are still being made for the induction.
