Windhoek
The Namibia National Liberation Veterans Association (NNLVA), recognised as the authentic representative of the veterans of the liberation struggle of Namibia, will hold its congress from February 22 to 26.
President of the association (Rtd) Lieutenant-General Raonga Andima yesterday said around 100 paid-up war veterans are expected to converge in Otjiwarongo to attend the highly anticipated congress.
As well as taking stock of recent developments the congress will also elect new office-bearers of the NNLVA. Andima said some of the core objectives of the NNLVA are to represent the interests of its members and to serve as a transmission belt between the Ministry of Veteran Affairs and its members throughout the country.
The Namibian government, through the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, recognised the NNLVA in September 2010 as the authentic representative of the veterans of the liberation struggle.
