Watch what you wish for

Home Youth Corner Watch what you wish for

There is a common saying by a certain wise man that “As a man thinks, he becomes”.

It means whatever you think about, you attract in your life and eventually you start living that life that started in your thoughts. If you think negative thoughts, you create a negative life for yourself, if you occupy yourself with positive thoughts, you attracts positive circumstances to yourself; it is the universal law of life that has been around for thousand years and shall remain.
The human mind is the only mind that is aware of being aware, among all living things of the universe. In psychology, it is scientifically known as “metacognition”, which basically translate as being conscious about being conscious. It is the same human mind that is responsible for uncountable man made creations that we see in our times and these that have been created long before our forefathers. The point I am trying to illustrate here is that your mind is much powerful than you think, and your thoughts have the power of creation. All the great discoveries and creations started as a mere thought in one person’s mind and they brought their thoughts to life and changed the humankind way of living. The car you drive, the cell phone you use, the pen you write with, the Great Walls of China, the Eiffel Tower, the National Anthem… all these and everything else around you started as a single thought in one human being’s mind and the more they thought about it, the more they came closer to it and eventually their thoughts became a reality.
Our emotions, behaviours and feelings all begin as a reaction to a thought. If you imagine yourself being out casted by others, you start feeling down, although in reality you are very much part of the group. If you keep dwelling on the thought of being out casted, you start seeing others normal behaviour as intended to hurt you, and eventually you start feeling hurt. You thoughts created a feeling that made everything seem real. On the other hand, if you imagine getting a compliment from a loved one, you start smiling and eventually your whole day was made (by a single thought) and a good day becomes your reality.
In the past centuries, they believed the sky was the limit, in the twenty first century, the human mind is the limit. People have crossed the atmosphere to other planets, so the saying “the sky is the limit” is for these that are still mentally in the fifth century. You brain is a powerful tool that is capable of creating heaven or hell for you. Watch what thoughts you keep dwelling on, are they building or destructing you? I am willing to share a small trick on how to train your mind to serve you positive thoughts, thought that will change your life for good, but I am reserving it for next week. For now, watch what you wish for…
