Walvis Bay Corridor Group (WBCG), through its Wellness Service Initiative, was recently selected as the best institution providing health services within the Namibian private sector.
The award ceremony, which was hosted by the Venancius Rukero AIDS Orphans and Vulnerable Children Foundation, formed part of the Namibia National AIDS Conference 2016 and the commemoration of the World AIDS Day in Swakopmund.
Receiving the award on behalf of the WBCG, the Wellness Service Project Manager, Edward Shivute, said this award recognises the extra mile the company goes to ensure customer satisfaction and value for money. He attributed the success of this programme to the hard working team that is wholly committed to the cause.
“Our proactive nature has blessed us with great opportunities, where we continue to innovatively foster the improvement of community and corporate health programmes.”
Winning this award concludes 2016 on a high note for the wellness service. “Our priority is to provide wellness services that match the needs and affordability of our clients. By assessing their needs, we are able to provide a tailored service package that specifically caters for their requirements. The project has a combination of health strategies that are innovative and user-friendly,” Shivute said.
The Namibia HIV/AIDS Hero Awards began in 2015 and evolved through a need to give recognition to Namibians, who significantly contribute towards the fight against HIV/AIDS. The awards are also aimed at acknowledging the outstanding work of various institutions in Namibia that provide health services that have made a meaningful and significant impact within their respective sectors, as well as at national level.
The organiser, Venancius Rukero, explained that the event brings together stakeholders who are contributing and supporting the efforts of the Ministry of Health and Social Services.
“Our purpose is to combine efforts to effectively make a difference in our nation’s fight to reduce HIV infections. This goal ties in nicely with the theme of the Namibia HIV/AIDS 2016 Conference: Ending AIDS in Namibia,” Rukero added.
Proceeds from the ceremony will be donated to selected charity and welfare organisations.
The WBCG Wellness Service continues to be a prime driver of self-sustaining HIV/AIDS Employees Wellness Workplace Programmes in the Namibian health sector and across the SADC region. With three fixed clinics in Oshikango, Katima Mulilo and Walvis Bay to service border communities and two mobile clinics, WBCG maintains the capacity to mobilise anywhere in the country, as per the need of the client.
