We are confident of maximum points – Matsi

We are confident of maximum points – Matsi

Namib Daughters’ head coach Ryan Mats, says he is confident that his side will collect maximum points in the FNB Women Super League this weekend.

The Daughters have two crucial ties this weekend: a game against coastal outfit Arrows Ladies on Saturday and a crucial match against Julinho Athletics on Sunday.

In an interview with New Era Sport yesterday, the coach shared that their preparations went well, stating that the team has had ample time to prepare after the league went on a short break.

“The team looks good. We had training throughout last week; we didn’t have a break. We kept training as a group to ensure that we are ready for these weekend matches. I am happy with how the girls have reacted to training this week,” he said.

The Daughters find themselves in position 11 on the league table, just above Okahandja FC, who are trailing at the bottom. They have so far only amassed a total of five points, a position they would want to move from.

Matsi stated that their weekend matches would be very crucial, as they need to pick up points to ensure they improve their position in the league. “I am confident that this weekend, we will collect maximum points, as we have our key players returning for these fixtures. We have had them out for more than three months, and with their return, I am confident that victory will come,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Windhoek City head coach Hafeni Ndeitunga said all matches in the top-flight league are tough, and he hopes his side will emerge victorious over the weekend. “Yes, it’s going to be very competitive against them (V-Power) as all teams are fighting for momentum coming back from the long break, so we have to approach it with caution,”

“However, we are confident about getting maximum points. We recently competed in the Pirates Cup in South Africa, and that gave us significant exposure. I believe we will translate what we learned there into the league,” he added.

In other matches on Saturday at the NFA Technical Centre, V-Power will take on Windhoek City, while Okahandja will play against Khomas Nampol at Nau-Aib Stadium. Julinho Athletics will face off against NUST Babes.

On Sunday, Okahandja FC will welcome Windhoek City SC, while V-Power Angels will take on Khomas Nampol at the NFA Technical Centre. Julinho Athletics will take on Namib Daughters, while Arrows Ladies will play against NUST Babes. -mkambukwe@nepc.com.na
