Unam are aiming to move an inch closer to the summit of the Namibia Rugby Union (NRU) Premier League when they square off against Grootfontein tomorrow at the Grootfontein rugby field.
The students are currently third on the log table with 23 points, just two points behind second-placed Wanderers who have 25 points, while coastal outfit Kudus are topping the log with 28 points.
Unam have been on a good run in their recent league outings, and head coach David Philander will be hoping to maintain their momentum when they cross swords with Grootfontein.
“We are well prepared under the current weather circumstances and the team is in good spirit, ready to build up our last impressive performance at home. The freezing cold weather had an impact on our training and preparations this week but, however, we manage to put a few tactics together,” he said.
In terms of their opponents, Philander said they don’t fear any team in the premier league, as they are the team to beat.
“We are the trendsetters and we go with the mindset of winning in each and every match that we play. We take every game as it comes and that has helped us.”
Elsewhere tomorrow, log leaders Kudus will be under pressure to maintain their stronghold atop the league when they face the equally dangerous and unpredictable Khomasdal-outfit Western Suburbs at Suburbs Park in the capital.
Wanderers will also be on home turf when they square off against Trustco United in what is expected to be a thrilling clash.
Reho Falcon and crosstown rivals Rehoboth will be involved in the Rehoboth Derby.
Meanwhile, in the NRU First Division, Sparta 2 will be welcoming Kudus 3 at their home turf, while Eastern Bulls and Vipers will be in action at the Cattle Town of Gobabis.
In the NRU Women’s 10 League, Grootfontein Ladies will take on Unam Ladies, and Wanderers will be in action against United, while Okahandja Huskies will face Kudus Bokkies.
