WINDHOEK– Fashion has become such a powerful tool that society made it define people’s status. One of the furious things is that it’s kind of very hard to keep up with the changing trends and styles, colours, themes and patterns but at the same time it also allows you to add a fresh interest to your wardrobe.
I took on Facebook to Graph out what some people think is trending right now…..
I would say three things, monochrome (black and white). What make it interesting are the various patterns, textures and silhouettes. Secondly, kimono-style trench coats for its simplicity and thirdly, all White Ensemble, because the rule isn’t about when you can wear all-white; but how you wear it. It is always wise to mix textures, layer multiple pieces and couple various shades together.
Bucket hats are one of the in things right now.
I would say African prints; they have been on catwalks all over the world such as New York Fashion Week and Paris Fashion weeks. A must have right now is a garment filled with bright colours of African prints. To me prints define unity – its diversity of African roots.
As we are experiencing in Windhoek, the summer heat is on and all the shorts and miniskirts such as the Wrap-Front Mini Skirts are doing it now as well as colourful shoes.
Matte lipstick – this trend has been around for years but was only recently made popular by Kylie Jenner, this matte lipstick which basically come in all colour although the trending colour is a peachy-tan colour (which is Whirl in MAC but is also found with other brands), used with a lip liner it creates the perfect pout for any season. Secondly, High slight bandage dress, this trend is usually worn by curvier woman but that does not exempt slimmer woman from rocking it too, if worn right it can make any woman look fabulous and fierce. The high slit should exposes just the right about of leg without looking trashy, balance the look with a simple heel (preferably pointy toed or open toed ankle strap) this look has been worn by se of Hollywood’s top celebrities including Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and the Queen b herself Beyoncé. The amazing thing about it is that they come in different styles sizes to fit your specific body type so whether you are a size small or extra-large you will rock this trend.
