Namibia’s new Miss and Mister Supranational will be crowned tomorrow evening at the Safari Court Hotel.

Willem Fourie, the national director of the pageants, told VIBEZ! preparations are in full swing and everything is on track with the glitzy ceremony tol be televised live on One Africa.

Fourie urged the public to support beauty queens because they do a lot and take time to prepare for this event.

“The winning prizes are different every year. We dress them every year, and we take care of them. The beauty queen (and king) gets to travel overseas to compete at Miss and Mister Supranational,” he said.

The competitions aim to change the lives of contestants by empowering them with life skills beyond the world of pageantry.

The winners of both competitions will represent Namibia at the 14th Miss and Mister Supranational in Poland, where reigning Lalela Mswane of South Africa will hand over her crown to her successor.

Entries opened in August last year for Miss Supranational and in September for Mister Supranational Namibia.

Fourie, however, said the pageant relies on sponsorships, which is quite a challenge, and raising funds for the pageant is very hard.

“Funding is always an issue – and everyone thinks they are making millions, which is not true,” he noted.

Chanique Rabe, Miss Supranational 2021 and Miss Supranational Namibia 2020, will be a special guest at this year’s event.

Miss and Mister Supranational Namibia 2022 Julita Kitwe Mbangula and Jean-Luis Knouwds, who represented the country on the world stage last year, will hand over the crown and sash and end their reigns.

Fifteen contestants are vying for the Miss Supranational crown, and five men are eyeing the Mister Supranational sash.

Miss Supranational finalists are:

Fatuna Mnubi, Michelle Mukuve, Tiffany van Zyl, Remembrance de Klerk, Aina Bauleth, Stella da Costa, Tamson Gawanas, Senia Pius, Hilia Shinene, Milcah Mokanja, Jamie-Lee Titus, Rachel Tukuhupwele, Simonia Kanyumara, Romley Hoffman and Angelica Varela

The Mister Supranational finalists are:

Uche Anyanwu, Malan van den Berg, Ryan Beukes, Brian Roodt and Jacques van Zyl.
