By Staff Reporter WINDHOEK A Simbra bull sold for N$135ÃÆ’Æ‘ÀÃ…ÃÆ”šÃ‚ 000 at the Windhoek Show Auction last week set a record price for all the breeds. The bull, according to Agra, fetched a Namibian record price for all the breeds as well as a Southern African record for a Simbra bull. Derksen Trust from South Africa bought the bull. The Simbra bull named Dollar is also the father of the show Grand Champion of Champions at the Windhoek show for 2007, which was won by a Simbra cow. Both animals are from the Rumba Simbra stud of Hardus and Ansie Breedt of Grootfontein. Rumba Simbras were established in 1997 by Hardus and Ansie Breedt and from its inception had excellent results at various shows across Namibia and South Africa. According to Pieter Hugo, Agra’s Senior Manager: Livestock Services, the breed is of exceptional high quality and all the bulls that were auctioned were of great genetic material. Some 39 cattle were sold for an average price of N$32ÃÆ’Æ‘ÀÃ…ÃÆ”šÃ‚ 897, with average prices of different breeds being: Brahman – N$26ÃÆ’Æ‘ÀÃ…ÃÆ”šÃ‚ 571 Brangus – N$20ÃÆ’Æ‘ÀÃ…ÃÆ”šÃ‚ 000 Braunvieh – N$29 250 Simbra – N$49ÃÆ’Æ‘ÀÃ…ÃÆ”šÃ‚ 166 Simmentaler – N$29ÃÆ’Æ‘ÀÃ…ÃÆ”šÃ‚ 600 Sussex – N$25ÃÆ’Æ‘ÀÃ…ÃÆ”šÃ‚ 500 Brangus Heifer- N$8ÃÆ’Æ‘ÀÃ…ÃÆ”šÃ‚ 000 Simbra Cow – N$24 666 Simmentaler Cow N$15ÃÆ’Æ‘ÀÃ…ÃÆ”šÃ‚ 000
