Windhoek gears up for Good Series finals

After a thrilling journey across the country, the Nedbank for Good Series is bringing its final round to the capital on Saturday at the Windhoek Golf and Country Club for the 13th and final leg of the regional competition, where the last two finalists will earn their coveted spots in the series finale on 3 October.

The tournament will tee off at 10h00 from the first and 10th tees, with players competing in the individual Stableford format in both men’s and women’s divisions.

Individual Stableford is a golf scoring format where points are awarded based on a player’s net score on each hole, rather than counting total strokes.

This year’s series has been a remarkable journey, taking the competition to various golf courses and towns across Namibia, including Omeya, Oranjemund, Gobabis, Okahandja, Mariental, Oshakati, Grootfontein, Outjo, Henties Bay, Swakopmund, and Walvis Bay.

The 26 champions, both male and female, from each regional event will gather at Omeya Golf Club on 3 October 2025, for the final showdown to determine the ultimate winners of the 2025 Nedbank for Good Series.

This year’s series, previously called the Nedbank for Autism Series, continues its legacy of making a real impact on Namibian communities.

The proceeds from this year’s series will support Agra ProVision, an initiative focused on delivering vital training, services, and assistance to underserved agricultural communities.

Event organiser Dan Zwiebel says they are looking forward to the final regional round, which promises to be exciting.

“We are incredibly excited to host the final regional round of the series in Windhoek. What started as a humble initiative six years ago has grown into a significant event that not only promotes the sport of golf but also contributes to meaningful causes. Preparations have been running smoothly, and we expect to have about 100 players participating this Saturday. It has been an incredible year, and we can’t wait to see who will join our finalists for the grand finale,” he said.

Zwiebel encouraged golf enthusiasts to come in large numbers to witness this event. She added that registration is open until today at 17h00 through the Windhoek Golf Club app for members. Non-members can register by contacting Toady Gurirab via WhatsApp at +264 85 620 4758.

He noted the competition has been intense this year, with competitors striving for victory, and he expects Saturday to be no different.

Zwiebel reaffirmed the organisers’ commitment to expanding golf across Namibia, noting that the success of the three new venues added this year is promising.

Nedbank Namibia’s Chief Commercial Officer, JG van Graan, expressed enthusiasm for the bank’s ongoing support.

“Reflecting on our journey this year, from the very first clash at Omeya, it has been inspiring to see the organisers’ deliberate and bold decision to take the sport to new venues like Okahandja, Grootfontein, and Outjo. This aligns perfectly with our values of reaching all corners of Namibia. We encourage them to continue this effort of making golf accessible to everyone,” he said.

Van Graan added that this expansion reflects Nedbank’s continued commitment to growing golf in Namibia, making sure the sport reaches and benefits more communities across the country.
