WINDHOEK

The famous annual /Ae //Gams Festival is coming to town.

The City of Windhoek will once again host the annual event in September, in an attempt to bring together Namibian arts and culture.

This year’s event will take place under the motto, ‘Diverse Culture, One Vision’ and the theme ‘Ipele ka setso sa gago’. This is a Setswana expression that translates ‘have pride in your culture’.

In a statement on Tuesday, the City of Windhoek said: “The festival serves as a vehicle to enhance the capital’s identity through cultural expression with a view to enhance and promote Windhoek as a culturally vibrant city that provides a unique tourism experience.”

The festival is used as a platform for cultural and economic growth. It is a networking opportunity for all involved, the statement said.

“With the support of corporate public, the private sector and development partners, who are committed to this shared responsibility and development challenge in our city, the annual event – the 6th of its kind – can be another success story for the City of Windhoek.”

The /Ae //Gams Festival is an event that brings together people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

It serves not only the Windhoek community, but also Namibia at large by creating a platform for local and international artists to interact and share experiences.
