WALVIS BAY – A shack fire claimed the life of an 45-year-old woman yesterday morning and left almost 30 people homeless on Monday evening.
The fire occurred at a house on Sardyn Street in Kuisebmund. The woman was identified as Annalie Ganases. Police in the Erongo Region, say the fire started in the shack of the deceased.
It is believed the blaze apparently started about 30 minutes after the deceased arrived at her shack and speculation is that the fire could have been caused by an electric kettle the deceased was using. However, the exact cause of the fire has not yet been established.
