Woman hacks rape suspect with panga

A 33-year-old man was slashed with a panga by a woman he was allegedly trying to rape at Oshikweyo village in the Oshana region last week.

The suspect sustained cuts on the head and both arms as the complainant allegedly tried to ward off his sexual assault on Tuesday.

According to police Deputy Commissioner Fredrik Ndjadila, the suspect, allegedly called the complainant to his house under the pretence of offering her a job to take care of his children.

However, upon the complainant’s arrival, there were no children present at the house.

“The suspect dragged the complainant into his room and demand sex, but the complainant refused,” he said.

The suspect allegedly started assaulting the complainant inflicting injuries on her left cheek and her right hand.

During the scuffle, the woman grabbed a panga and hacked her assailant a few times.

The police said after assaulting the complainant, the suspect raped her.

He was arrested on the same day and police investigations continue.

Police urged women to be vigilant whenever they are looking for jobs because some men are out to take advantage of them.
