Windhoek – Namibia’s leading boxing promoter, the MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing & Fitness Academy, has every reason to be excited about the upcoming August world ratings to be released by the end of this month.

“This would be the first time in our history that we have so many champions in the world ratings. One should take note that the last fights accelerated our boxers’ chances for world ratings after we won all five titles on the night – we are extremely excited about this,” reads a statement from the academy.

Currently the academy boasts five boxers in the word ratings, namely, Paulus “Rock” Ambunda, Imms “Prince” Naidjala, Julius “Blue Machine” Indongo, Japhet Uutoni and Sakaria Lukas.

The academy is anxiously expecting its new champions, Walter Kautondokwa, Paulus “Hitman” Moses, Abraham “Energy” Ndeundapo and Sacky “Izinyoka” Shikukutu to join them in the ratings, which will increase the  stable’s world-rated boxers to 9 – a record for the academy.

In addition, the academy’s protégés Ambunda and Hitman are now rated world-class or pound-for-pound fighters by Fight News and Ring Magazine, having taken all fighters in the world into consideration.

A pound-for-pound fighter in the boxing world means you are regarded as one of the most exciting boxers to watch – that any commercial pay TV station would invest in.

That sort of honour is certainly not bestowed on any boxer lightly, thus the academy feels strongly honoured to have reached this level of recognition.

Getting its boxers in the world ratings is the academy’s core business since a world rating is regarded as an endorsement by the boxing world that the boxer is a credible fighter, conforming to the highest boxing standards.

The basic thing that any credible promoter around the world will do when looking for an opponent is to check out the world ratings.

The WBO 5-day Convention is scheduled in Puerto Rico on October 17, with the Sunshine Executive Team likely attendees in an effort to motivate for better ratings.

The academy will also use the opportunity to showcase its depth and potential while hoping to walk away with the prestigious WBO Best African Promoter Award.

In the meantime, the academy plans to stage another fight in Windhoek just before the convention, so that it can have a good story to tell during the Puerto Rico gathering.
