Organisers of the Windhoek Wrestling Club tournament, held over the weekend, have lauded the amount of talent that was on display.

The well-attended event took place at SKW in Olympia and saw more than 100 young wrestlers from various clubs from within and outside the capital compete for top honours in 15 categories.

“We are proud of the amount of talent that we saw during the weekend, especially from clubs coming from Swakopmund and other towns. They have huge talent that needs constant competition to improve,” said organiser Colin Steytler.

He told New Era Sport that it was a big tournament.

“We had four clubs that joined us this year; we had 62 rounds last year, and we had 102 rounds this year, showing an enormous improvement. We also have eight online competitions this year, which showed us how the sport has grown,” he said.

Windhoek Club dominated proceedings, winning the competition, followed by After School in the second position.

In the third position was Swakop Club, while Judah Club Okahandja took the fourth position.
