Namibia Premier League (NPL) new boys Young African Football Club will this weekend reaffirm their seriousness in taking premiership football to all parts of the country when they host the Kasi Classic Preseason Tournament at the Legare Stadium in Gobabis tomorrow.
Expected to be one of the biggest pre-season tournament staged outside the capital, this weekend’s Kasi Tournament will feature some of the NPL’s big names, led by champions Tigers, Black Africa and Unam FC, alongside hosts Young African FC.
Tournament organiser and owner of Young African Mali Ngarizeno said local football lovers from the Cattle Town of Gobabis and surrounding areas should brace themselves for a weekend of thrilling football action.
Although it will be a one-day competition, Ngarizeno was confident that spectators would be given value for money. The opening match of the day will see NPL reigning champions Tigers taking on Young African at 09h00 and Black Africa facing Unam FC at 11h00.
The two losers of the opening round will face each other at 14h00 in the third-place playoff, before the two winners rumble it out in the final at 16h00. Besides football action, spectators will also be given a serious treat as popular oviritje artist Rax Kandjoze will also be in the mix to entertain the crowd.
