As the world’s youngest filmmaker, whose last film has now been screened across three continents, 13-year-old Girl Education Advocate Zuriel Oduwole will be returning to Namibia later this month for a few programmes.

Described as the Most Powerful Girl in the World by New York Business Insider Magazine because of her work and global accomplishments, she has already met one-on-one with 17 world leaders to discuss pertinent development issues, including one in six of Africa’s presidents and prime ministers.

Having featured on BBC, CNN, CNBC and Bloomberg TV, as well as ELLE Magazine, and still the youngest person in history to be interviewed for the prestigious global business and wealth magazine, Forbes, she has spent the last three years doing simple things – telling Africa’s positive stories via documentaries, and making the case for educating the continent’s children, especially girls.

Her first visit to Namibia was last December on a quiet vacation from working in South Africa, but it was the image of her time spent teaching basic math and algebra to a group of Khoi children, that caught the attention of Namibia’s youth.

She is returning to Namibia later this month for a series of private and public events, including hosting a filmmaking and film editing workshop for young Namibians as part of her mission of empowering the independence and economic viability of her generation, after listening to their views and challenges over social media.

Namibian youths, aged 16 – 25, who would like to be considered for this free workshop, should send an e-mail to projects@zurieloduwole.com and talk about themselves briefly, including what they are doing currently, where they see themselves in two years, and how they believe filmmaking could change their lives and impact their communities.
