WINDHOEK

Members of the Swapo Party Youth League last week embarked on an upgrading project at the College of the Arts hostel house in Klein Windhoek.

It was agreed on Tuesday, 22 January 2008, by the Bishop Collin Winter Branch members to make improvements in the Windhoek East district. Their starting point would be the College of the Arts’ hostel house, home to 19 students.

Youth League member Louis van der Merwe contributed greatly to the cause as he personally funded renovations to the hostel. Not only was paint provided, but sanitary, drainage and other improvements were made which are much appreciated by the residents.

Students and youth league members picked up their brushes on Saturday, painting the future of an optimistic Namibia.

“It’s a very generous cause and a patriotic event. We are committed to work with the Government and ready to engage them on issues that affect our area. We want to be part of the solution,” said Andre Itope, branch secretary and Nanso secretary general.

Students shared in the excitement of a prosperous future for Namibia: “I think it’s good to donate to the nation to make a difference, and as we are the youth, we also need to take part in these activities,” said Loide Joseph.

According to traditional Oshiwambo singer, Susan Haimbala, nicknamed “Manager” of the house: “The SWAPO Youth League wants to improve our living standards. I’m very happy to be a member!”
