WINDHOEK-The Auala Youth Group (AYG) is holding its youth conference this Friday to Sunday, at Oshitutuma Parish Church in the Omusati region.
According to the AYG spokesperson, Ester Sakaria, the conference will have two parts one involving church activities such as singing and speeches while the second activity will be sport (soccer, netball and volleyball). Sakaria says those parishes playing against each other on Saturday will win trophies and medals. The AYG has now up to 250 members from different parishes such as Oshitutuma, Ontananga, Omulonga, Emanya, Oshitayi, Oniipa, Olukonda and Onguta.
Sakaria adds that this time they are including sport activities to to give the conference a different taste. “As it has been long, most activities in our group is mainly singing and sometime Bible studies but we also have many youths who are not into that but prefer sport and this people are left behind. Hence our deanery committee has decided to add one activity,” explains Sakaria.
Sakaria also calls all the youths to come and support their initiative. “It is time that we as youths start to lead our churches. It is time to act now, time for change in our churches and it is up to us the youth to change first,” she says.
