WINDHOEK-Learners, students and youth entrepreneurs t interested in venturing into aviation are encouraged to attend the Aviation Week to be hosted by Delta Air Academy at the Windhoek Eros Airport.
Themed “Economic and Youth Empowerment through Aviation, Sustainable Development for Vision 2030,” the event is the first of its kid and will provide the atmosphere of sharing knowledge and exposure with various institutions both private and in the public sector. The event will enact series of general aviation development strategies and planning proposing the strategic target of making Windhoek the world centre of general aviation.
According to Mwala Chenjekwa, the organiser, the theme was chosen because the aviation industry is able and capable of contributing more than it is doing to achieve Vision 2030.“The Namibia aviation industry is dominated by foreigners and the youth should be aware and participate and contribute to the industry as we are the future generation. As we strive to develop our country, lets invest in sustainable development aviation industry,” says Chenjekwa who is also a student at the Delta Air Academy.
Chenjekwa adds that in the future they hope to host the first ever Namibian Aviation Expo that will feature various mega airlines and various service providers in the aviation industry. “We want to create a platform for SMEs to be involved in the aviation industry that includes investing and attracting foreign investments. We also want to start a new revolution for young Namibians to participate and gain knowledge about the industry. In the next 15 years the air transport will be one of the most preferred transportation domestically will increase domestic revenues and in return increase employment opportunities,” he says.
