KATIMA MULILO – The Directorate of Education in the Zambezi Region recently held its consultative meeting where stakeholders gauged progress made in the provision of quality education.
The meeting also identified the challenges faced in the provision of education.
Addressing stakeholders including school boards, traditional councillors and business entities at the official opening of the meeting, Zambezi Regional Governor Lawrence Sampofu noted the meeting presented an opportune time for the advancement of education in the region.
“It’s very important for parents to meet like this so that we see what we have achieved and what has been lacking. That’s why we appeal to parents to work together with teachers. Often when things go wrong we tend to blame one another. With education we are talking about the future of our children,” stated the regional governor.
According to Sampofu a collective effort is imperative to realise the full potential of the region.
“The academic results of this region do not reflect the abilities of teachers, inspectors or directors alone, but our collective ability as a region. We can achieve above other regions if we work harder. Let’s look to 2015 with renewed determination,” implored Sampofu.
The Director of Education in the Zambezi, Austin Samupwa, echoed similar sentiment urging for stakeholder support.
“Today we report about the activities of the academic year 2014. We evaluate the progress we have made in educating your children in Zambezi. We seek your undivided support in making Zambezi the best education provider,” he noted.
Different divisions within the regional eductaion directorate presented their activities for the year.
