Zambezi needs Nam magic!

Home Time Out Zambezi needs Nam magic!

MultiChoice Namibia was the place to be #BossLoviVoice this past week as Zambezi Magic representatives hosted a Q&A session for Namibian Entertainers. One needs to give credit where it is due and in this case, Industry Loop would like to applaud their efforts to try and get as much Namibian content on their platform.

They’ve been channeling this communiqué via MultiChoice Namibia that in turn made it its mission to get Namibian Entertainers to heed its call. Never have I seen a continental platform go out of their way to involve the Namibian art. It is commendable.

I have long been a critique of other platforms like MTV Base and Channel O who simply do not consider us worthy players among the more favoured South African and Naija music industries. How can we not be worthy players when we have art in this country that won Kora Awards, Channel O awards and other international awards? How can we not be considered serious players if we are the new home of the Kora Awards?

Zambezi Magic has demonstrated a genuine will to want to have Namibian content on its platform. As a Namibian Entertainer, I will heed that call through joint ventures with other entertainers. I am urging the rest of the colleagues to jump on the bandwagon. Package something quality and worthy of the Namibian story and submit. WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO LOOSE ano?

Niksie! Imagine if we could have a “Kapana” series on Zambezi Magic? Or an Oviritje Top 10 countdown. Anything authentically Namibian they want! That is the whole purpose of their platform. Or as Mapetla so eloquently puts it, “Omes, that channel is just for the SADC story mos? Nou, ons is mos part of SADC or did Abuti Hage take us out poh?” Everyday I find fellow colleagues complaining about the market that they are unable to penetrate the market because of the ratio provided for by the tiny population we have.

That can all change once you get unto a continental platform like Zambezi Magic. Get off your lazy bum and craft your way unto that platform. Zambezi Magic is on DSTV Channel 160. Watch and study the channel. Perhaps see what it is they don’t have and fill that gap…MARKET RESEARCH. Again, another topic I have GBV’d over and over on this platform. Oh no wait, is it your fear to write a letter or proposal that is keeping you locked in your beloved studio? We live in a tech age. Google bloody letter and you will get examples of how you need to compose one. Copy, edit and submit! Wie sal wat se? Get to it today. Contact MultchiChoice and let SADC know that we also have Female Donkies in Namibia…. #RunsAway.

Until the next Loop, we say #GMTM
