KATIMA MULILO – The Zambezi regional police launched an operation on Tuesday in Katima Mulilo with the aim of enhancing crime combating strategies.
The operation, which kicked off in Choto, will continue up to 30 January 2023 and will include members of the community policing forum.
Speaking at the event was Zambezi regional commander, Commissioner Andreas Shilelo who said the launch was necessitated by the need to prevent crime within the area, as there are a high number of housebreaking cases.
‘’The housebreaking crime rate in Choto is very high and we will therefore go door to door, as well as location by location,” said Shilelo.
He added the operation seeks “to understand the people we are policing in Choto, as there is a high number of housebreaking cases. We would, therefore, like to interact with the community so that we can have a better understanding of how these crimes are committed. “We have to talk to the community by understanding them as well as who are the people that are in Choto. It could be that there are people who are not from our region within Choto or some areas where criminals are hiding and these are the places that we are looking for,” stated Shilelo.
