Seventeen small business owners in the Katutura Central constituency received essential equipment valued at N$270,000 through the Khomas Regional Council’s Income-Generating Activities Programme.
It is an initiative aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and sustainable economic growth.
During the handover ceremony, Katutura Central regional councillor Vezemba Katjaimo was upbeat.
“We are here to hand over equipment that will serve as a vital tool for 17 small business owners. This initiative is not merely about providing resources, it is about creating jobs and empowering you to build a sustainable future for yourself and your family,” he stated.
The equipment will assist entrepreneurs in growing their businesses, and ensuring long-term financial stability.
“These tools are not to be sold or transferred. My office will conduct regular visits to ensure that these resources are making a significant impact,” he added.
“I want you to make sure that you are going to transform these small businesses into industrial enterprises,” Katjaimo urged the beneficiaries.
“Let us dream big. We envision a future where hardship is replaced by a soft life, where business transforms into fortune, and where small businesses evolve into major enterprises.”
The Khomas Regional Council has invested millions of dollars into similar initiatives over the years, aiming to uplift people from poverty to prosperity, he continued.
While celebrating the impact of the programme, the councillor acknowledged that more aspiring entrepreneurs have applied for assistance. “As we speak, we have received hundreds of new applications for our next round of support, which we anticipate rolling out around August,” he announced.
Katjaimo encouraged applicants who applied but did not receive assistance this time around to keep applying until they are assisted. “Due to limited resources, we cannot support everyone immediately, but your persistence is the key.”
