Eenhana
The 2015 Eenhana Trade and Business Expo is expected to attract no less than 20,000 visitors this year – compared to 18,000 last year.
Running for the eighth consecutive year since its inception in 2008, the expo has grown in terms of the number of visitors and exhibitors. This year altogether 320 exhibitors will put their wares and services on display, compared to only 270 last year.
The event will take place from Monday July 27 to August 1 at its usual venue at the premises of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture.
The Head of Marketing and Economics at Eenhana Town Council, Muandingi Ndawedwa said the expo was initiated to promote and market Eenhana as an investment destination. “We were able to use the expo to market and promote ourselves,” he says.
Similarly, the expo was also initiated to promote economic activity within Eenhana and to create awareness about what is happening in terms of entrepreneurship and trade at the town.
“The expo has also been a good platform to expose our local entrepreneurs, as well as a good platform to build business working relationships,” related Ndawedwa.
Apart from the exhibition, Ndawedwa acknowledges that the expo has also been a platform for the local people to make money. The expo has provided a welcome boost to the town’s economy, especially in terms of accommodation and shopping.
Ndawedwa acknowledges that although there is great interest among people who want to participate in the expo, the face a major challenge in terms of accommodating visitors and exhibitors at the expo venue, as well as around town.
This year’s event will be attended by a number of high-ranking government officials and corporate leaders.
The setting up stalls and other facilities at the main venue will be done in the course of next week and all exhibitors will be expected to start making their way there by next week Friday.
