… Katutura giants fashion out a draw
WINDHOEK – As the race atop the MTC Premiership log table intensifies, table-toppers Tigers on Friday night put up a gallant performance that saw them scrape out a 1-all draw against reigning champions Black Africa at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
The draw saw Tigers maintain their strong hold on the summit of the MTC Premiership log table 4 points clear of 2nd placed Orlando Pirates. The result saw BA surrender their 2nd place to Pirates, who put up an emphatic display to brush aside United Stars 6-2 on Saturday at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
Ali Akan’s Pirates, also 4 points behind Tigers, are currently level on points with BA but ahead on goal difference.
In other action, Katutura giants African Stars overpowered a spirited Eleven Arrows outfit 2-1 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium also on Saturday. The win propelled Stars into 4th place on 13 points, just 1 point adrift of BA and Pirates, while coastal outfit Arrows sits 11th on the log with just 3 points.
At the coast, Blue Waters defeated Rundu Chiefs by 1-0 to maintain their stay midway on the log, as they currently occupy 8th place on 8 points.
Meanwhile, at Swakopmund Blue Boys avoided a home defeat after playing to a 1-all draw against Ramblers.
