WHILST Xmas is a time for sharing, the bikers annual Live to Ride Toy Run, bore testimony to that with their generosity. Once again the biking community turned up in their droves on Saturday, with teddies, toys and gifts for underprivileged children with the spirit of giving to those less fortunate being the main message.

An exciting mass ride started off the day’s activities with well over 70 bikes departing from the Bike & Quad Clinic, escorted by a Nampol Traffic vehicle, and roared off in the general direction of Vintage Bar sport field, where a day for the whole family unfolded, with braai’s, picnic’s live music and bringing joy to a host of the 60 needy and disabled children from ‘Helping Hands’ who were present for the occasion.

The highlight of the day was when ‘Father Xmas’ roared in on his metallic blue BMW Motorcycle, and dished out brightly wrapped presents to the delighted kiddies, who were also treated to a jumping castle and eats galore. According to Lolla De Klerk (Secretary Live to Ride Windhoek), the club started collecting since September, and managed to bring in over 500 toys, as well as 200 kilograms of clothes and other items which will be distributed to Gobabis, Katutura and Khomasdal charitable causes.

Lolla told Woema, that this was the sixth Live to Ride Toy Run in Windhoek which has become a tradition amongst the biking community who believe in caring for their community.
