OSHIKANGO – An initiative by two young energetic entrepreneurs Justino Germano and Meriam Germano, led to the establishment of Triple D Active Gym, a personal fitness centre primarily aimed at serving the northern border town of Oshikango.
The ultimate mission is to create a customer-focused workout environment that promotes confidence and success in meeting the clients’ fitness goals, while celebrating their success and helping them to set new fitness goals. The establishment features a wellness and fitness centre in a form of a well-equipped gym and to complement its core service delivery, the gym also boasts a cafeteria, an Internet Café and a sport shop. The cafeteria will ensure that clients have access to healthy and nutritious foods when they come for exercising, while the sport shop will sell various sporting items ranging from sport wear and equipment to trophies etc. The focus of the gym is to keep the whole family involved in the centre by exposing everyone to a variety of activities and services on offer. The gym provides potential sport men and women in the Ohangwena Region who don’t have access to sport facilities to benefit from the centre, as a sign of social responsibility and a way of ploughing back into the community.
Triple D Active Gym will be open to the public 16 hours a day, 7 days a week with a professional personal staff. “Our personal trainers will provide the knowledge and expertise in designing and implementing a fitness programme, while trainers will be obliged to have specific qualifications and training that will enable them to provide each client with an individually designed programme,” reads a statement from the management. The Deputy Director of Marginalized People and Women in Sport from the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sports and Culture Jo-Ann Manuel, delivered the keynote address on behalf of the line minister during the opening of the new gym recently. “Recently, a successful boxing tournament was hosted here in Oshikango and we hope that this is the beginning of many more sport events to come. With a gym in the vicinity we do not see any reason why sport competitions cannot come to Oshikango. We call upon all users to ensure that the gym is utilized to its maximum capacity.” She expressed the hope that Oshikango would now produce many body builders who will go on to represent the country internationally. “Indeed, the construction of this gym has supplemented the sport development efforts of the country. Government alone cannot meet all the needs and expectations of our communities. So, we call upon other entrepreneurs to follow suit in bringing constructive development to the doors of community members. Our world is revolving so fast that stress levels of community members is also on the increase. To release this stress, one only needs to take your training bag and head to the gym,” she said.
