RUNDU – A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Rundu’s Tutungeni location last week Thursday evening. No arrest has been made so far, as the suspect is unknown, but police say the suspect can be recognized should the victim see him again.
The suspect allegedly dragged the minor to the back of a house, forced her to lay on the ground and proceeded to violate her. Meanwhile, a 62-year-old woman died on the spot along the Rundu and Mururani highway when the driver of the vehicle she was travelling in lost control of the car and it overturned.
The accident took place last Wednesday afternoon at 14h00 at Sitenda village. They were travelling from Mbeyo village to Rundu. The deceased was identified as Johanna Kaputeni. Her next of kin have been informed. The driver was 29-year-old Joseph Mushongo. Another passenger, Claudia Ndumba, aged 30 only sustained injuries.
All the occupants in the car are from Mbeyo village. Police Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Willie Bampton, confirmed both incidents to New Era yesterday.
